Q

A proper set of antivirus tools?

Windows security threats expert Kevin Beaver analyzes a set of tools and their potential antivirus capabilities, and suggests that more is needed to keep viruses at bay.

I am currently using Trend Micro antispyware, Registry mechanic, Registry smart and Adware alert on my computer. But am I protected from viruses by these tools or do I need to invest in a separate application?
Some of the features of these tools may help protect against certain virus behaviors to an extent, but not at the level that's needed for true virus protection. From what I could tell, none of these vendors tout virus protection either, so your best bet is to use an anti-virus application in addition to these tools.
