Assigning users proxy settings for ISA Server
I would like to keep track of proxy settings in the IE of users on the LAN. I have access to ISA, but it does not give me details except the active users. This is just to catch proxy servers in my LAN. Can you help?
Do you want to keep track of proxy settings or manage them? Since you are worried about rogue proxy servers, I'm assuming you'd like to assign users the proxy settings for ISA Server. You can set proxy settings when setting up user machines, and you can use Administrative Templates to prevent users from changing them (by disabling menus and by setting the User Configuration, Internet Explorer, "Disable changing proxy settings"). However, if a user is the Administrator on their own machine, they may be able to log on locally and change settings. Your second line of defense is to make sure that paths to the Internet, other than through the ISA Server, are not available. If someone can set up a proxy on your network, someone will be able to use it. Make sure that all network connections, including wireless connections are routed through your designated proxy servers, and eliminate the use of modems on workstations.
