Q

Assigning users to specific clients in Win2k Pro

I am using Windows 2000 Professional, and my Active Directory is in Windows 2000 Pro. My question is: Is it possible to assign users who can only logon to a particular client computer?
Not sure what you are saying here. Windows 2000 Professional does not run Active Directory, but a Windows 2000 server that has been promoted to a domain does. Do you mean your Windows 2000 Professional computer is a domain member in an AD domain? If so, then yes, it is possible to assign users to log on to a particular computer. This is done in the account section of the user's account information in Active Directory. Open Active Directory Users and Computers, and locate the users account. Open the users' property pages and click on the Account tab. Click the button labeled Logon To. Next, select "the following computers," and use the Add button to add the computer names you wish to assign to users.

If your Win2k Professional computer is not in a domain, simply do not give users accounts on any computers but the ones you want them to log onto.
