Can I restrict the access to a device like CD writer for a local account on
a Windows 2000 Professional machine? And can I restrict the hours of usage
for a local account on a Win2k Pro machine?
To restrict the use of a CD-ROM, you will need to go to the Local Security
Settings program in the Administrative Tools folder. Select "Local
Policies" then select "Security Options." There is a policy option to
"Restrict CR-ROM access to locally logged-on users only." With respect to
your other question, you can restrict the hours of usage for a user when
they are logging on to a domain.
