Creating a LegalNoticeText in Windows 2003 AD

I'm running Windows 2003 Active Directory. How do I create a LegalNoticeText when domain users log in?

It's a registry setting. For Windows NT, 2000 and XP go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon

  • Modify the value named 'LegalNoticeCaption' to represent the caption on the dialog box (e.g., 'ATTENTION!')
  • Modify the value named 'LegalNoticeText' to represent the body of the dialog box (e.g. 'Only authorized users are permitted to log on to this system.')
  • This was last published in July 2005
