Fixing the blue screen error

How do you repair or check the blue screen error message? It reads "STOP 0x0000008E(0XC0000005,0XE23A6008,0XF43C9C0,0X00000000)." I have to restart Windows after this happens. My system is Windows XP Home Edition.
It's great that you have included the contents of the entire STOP error message; however, the part I really need (in addition to what you've provided) is the message that immediately follows the numbers such as "KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Nv4_disp.dll."

STOP errors and blue screens are almost always caused by an incompatibility between hardware and a hardware driver. Most of the known issues have been fixed by either XP Service Pack 2 or a hotfix, so my first tip would be to make sure you run Windows Update and get patched.

If this error occurs whenever you cancel a print job, check out MS KB Article 887589.
