Q

Getting errors with remote desktop connection

I'm having a problem connecting to client computers via Remote Desktop. The clients have been upgraded from Windows 2000 Professional to Windows XP Professional. I get "The local policy of this system does not allow you to logon interactively" even though there seems to be no policy preventing interactive logon. Logging in locally to the affected clients presents no problem (I'm able to logon locally), it's only through Remote Desktop that the problem occurs.
In a remote desktop connection, the logon locally is to the remote machine. In order to logon using Remote Desktop, users must be members in the Remote Desktop Users group or be administrators on the remote machine. If you are not a member of Remote Desktop Users, or an administrator, you will get the error you mention.
