How do I deal with the spy-ware on my system?

I ran Stop-Sign Virus Scan. It found six files that might contain Spy-ware applications. How would I deal with this?

I am unfamiliar with your virus scanner; however, most antivirus products offer to quarantine suspicious files or provide specific advice on the vendor Web sites on how to remove spy-ware. Is that not an option? Alternatively, you can download a free utility "ad-ware" which will scan specifically for spy-ware and remove it from your system. Ad-ware is available from LavaSoft.
