How to identify Windows vulnerabilities

How can I identify Windows vulnerabilities that may be easily exploited?
You can find out a lot about Windows vulnerabilities just by reading the technical info included in Windows patches and on the CERT and other vulnerability database sites. Aside from all the patched vulnerabilities, there are several other vulnerabilities that can be easy to exploit in Windows including null sessions which allows for unauthenticated enumeration of the system as well as the cracking of login and share passwords both locally or remotely. The key here is to run a vulnerability assessment on your Windows system(s) in question using various tools such as SuperScan, LANguard Network Security Scanner, Elcomsoft's Proactive Windows Security Explorer and QualysGuard.
