My adware is delaying reboots, but Norton won't delete the files
I saw your answer to this problem (
http://searchwindowssecurity.techtarget.com/expert/KnowledgebaseAnswer/0,289625,sid45_gci1144223_tax299914,00.html) and I have the same problem. I've tried scanning with Norton, Ad-Aware and Spybot-S&D in Safe Mode. The adware Norton couldn't remove are named adware.cdt, adware.sahagent and adware.vtlbar. Does this adware and spyware have something to do with the reboots? The computer runs for about 10 seconds after login. If I disconnect the ADSL Modem I can have the computer running for about 2 minutes before it reboots. However, in Safe Mode it never reboots. Is this a RAM-memory issue? Is there any test programs I can run in Safe Mode?
The adware you mention could very be causing the reboots. Try running Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware – it has a track record of cleaning the most junk out of Windows. Many anti-malware programs won't work in safe mode. Also disable system restore and try Stinger in safe mode. If that doesn't work, it may be time to look at your hardware (i.e. changing memory chips or removing any you recently installed).
