Q

Problems shutting down PC running XP Pro

When I shut down my PC (Windows XP Pro), it appears to shut down OK. However, when I try to switch the PC on again, the 'on' button does not work until I switch the power supply off/on at the back of the PC. The keyboard light remains on when the PC is shutdown. I have looked in control panel and the BIOS for management settings to change with no success.
The Windows XP power options applet may solve the problem for you. Open this control panel tool and click on the Advanced tab. Drop down the list box (in the Power buttons box) labeled "when I press the power button on my computer". Change it to "Shut down."
