Q

Risks of 3rd-party downloading

Downloading from a third-party source can be tricky. How do you know if you can trust the source? Are you safer downloading from a company like Microsoft? Kevin Beaver talks about downloading from this type of source.

What are the risks involved if your browser software is not obtained from a trusted source like Microsoft?
It depends on your source but I know I'd never install software from an "untrusted" source. But you have to be careful with that blanket labeling. Just what is untrusted? Is it open source? Freeware? Most of the latter can be "trusted", but again, it all depends. As with any decision, you've got to make the decision with the information you have at hand.
