How can I prevent users from deleting files or folders from the shared folder on NTFS? Which rights should I give on sharing->permissions and the Security tab?
You shouldn't give any rights on the Sharing->Permissions tab -- those control just the share. What you want are the more granular NTFS rights available on the Security tab.
To prevent deletes for a specific user or group:
- Go to the Advanced button on the Security tab
- Click the Add button and type in the name of the user or group
- On the ensuing list of permissions, deny the Delete permission
