Which OS is a better firewall platform -- Linux or Windows 2000?

Which operating system is more secure as a firewall platform -- Linux or Windows NT or 2000, and why? What are the issues to be considered? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? And where might I find more useful information or relevant papers?

There are pros and cons for either platform. It actually comes down to the security of the operating system itself, and the firewall you are looking to implement.
