My Internet Explorer security settings are corrupt. What can I do to recover and start using IE again?

I've seen this unfortunate event occur before due to data corruption, bad registry edits and more. It sounds like you may need to do a reinstall... Instead of getting into all the detailed steps here, I'm going to refer you to a Microsoft Knowledgebase article for the steps involved. Note that this info applies to Windows XP so your OS version may be different. An unfortunate side effect of this is that you'll likely need to reinstall all patches that have been applied to your systems... run Windows Update to confirm. In Windows XP, you could simply install the new SP2 -- just be careful especially if you're on a centrally managed network -- you don't want to break anything.
