QUESTION POSED ON: 03 September 2004
Is there a way to secure a Win2K laptop drive so that if a person pops the drive out and slaves it on another laptop he/she will not be able to access the drive (without using EFS)?

Not without EFS using native Windows tools. There are third party applications that provide drive encryption. Here's what I do. If I must leave my laptop, I physically lock it to something and remove the hard drive. I either carry the hard drive with me (it's much lighter than carrying the laptop to dinner) or lock it in the room safe.
