QUESTION POSED ON: 10 September 2004
I am a system administrator. I want to prevent users installing software in their system. I have about 50 systems with a domain abc.com.

See notes above about Internet downloads. Also use Group Policy to block their access to Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel, and do not make users administrators (they can override any controls you put in place). Do remember that if users can write to their hard drive, they can copy executable files from a disk or another computer and then run them. Many viruses and worms, games and other software can be installed simply by copying files, or clicking on email attachmentsSimply copying files or clicking on e-mail attachments can install many viruses and worms, games and other software.
