The Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) will by default prevent access to shares on the server. If you want users to be able to access shares you can make a rule on the firewall.
Open network connections and double click on the connection.
Click the properties button.
Click the Advanced tab.
Check the box to "protect my computer and network by limiting or .. or preventing access to this computer from the Internet." This enables the firewall.
Click the Settings button.
Click the Add button.
Enter a name for the service.
Enter the IP address of the computer hosting the service, in this case the IP address or name of the local server.
Enter the external port 445 (for direct hosting).
Enter the internal port number 445.
Click OK twice to close the window and to close the advanced settings.
Close network settings.
