Microsoft will release three critical patches in May

Windows systems managers only need to worry about applying four patches this month.

Three critical updates will address potential remote code execution in Windows 2000 Service Pack 4,

Windows 2000 XP Service Pack 2 and XP Professional 64-bit edition, and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 64-bit edition and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 for Itanium.

There are also critical patches for Office 2000 SP3, Office XP SP3, Office 2003 SP2 and SP3, Office System 2007 and Office System 2007 SP1.

One moderate patch will be issued for Microsoft's security service tools, such as Microsoft Antigen, Windows Defender and Microsoft Forefront Security.

Microsoft will issue the patches on May 13.
