IT shops and partners can now test Microsoft Office 2010 through the company's technical preview program.
Microsoft Office 2010 is due out next year. Improvements include "lightweight" Web-based versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote and better collaboration with co-authoring in Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 and Microsoft OneNote 2010.
Microsoft Outlook 2010 also has better e-mail management and calendaring capabilities, including the option for users to "ignore" unwanted threads and other features, Microsoft said. The company will also condense the number of Office editions from eight to five, with additional applications and features.
