If you are using Software Update Services (SUS) for patch management, you may notice some of the patches getting downloaded and installed repeatedly. This happens because SUS will not support patch superseding and, therefore, patches keep on downloading and installing repeatedly.

To avoid this behavior, you need to identify which patch is being installed repeatedly. The respective security bulletins will list the superseded patches, and you have to check for Security Update Replacement in the bulletin.

To summarize, the workaround is:
1. Identify the patch that is being installed repeatedly.
2. If that patch is superseding, then approve the latest one.
3. Un-approve the old patch.
