If you deal with multiple Terminal Servers in your enterprise, you may want to monitor and restrict user access. This tip explains a configuration that will allow you to limit server access to specific groups.

For this example, assume that the servers are all in the same domain. By default, the local users group on each member server contains the domain users group. The local users group has permission to attach to the RDP connection. If you modify the permissions on the RDP connection, you can limit who has access to the Terminal Server.

Run 'Terminal Services Configuration' -- right-click the 'RDP' connection, select 'Properties', then 'Permissions'. Remove the local users group and add only the group that will be using the server. Then check on 'Guest' and 'User' access.
