I had to migrate an NT server to a different domain. The process seemed successful (Welcome to the newdomain!) and I rebooted. When the server came back up, I couldn't log on to the new domain (or the old one, for that matter).
That's when I realized that I no longer knew the local admin password!
Fortunately, I had Winternals' ERD Commander and was able to reset the admin password. Here's the tip -- if you're migrating a server to a new domain, create a local administrator, or reset the password for an existing local administrator, before the migration. This way, you'll know how to get into the server if domain authentication fails.
