Windows XP launches many unnecessary programs and services at boot up. You can prevent the unnecessary services from executing during startup and reduce your system's boot up time.

To modify startup services, use the Windows XP services option.
Click Start -> Run
Type services.msc

This will launch the Windows XP services. Click on any service to read the description of it. Depending on your requirements, you can either disable the service or launch the service.
