Finding hidden files in Windows XP

Expert Jonathan Hassell answers a user's question about revealing a hidden file in Windows XP Home Edition.

In Windows XP Home Edition, when trying to copy a file into another directory, I get an error message "Cannot copy (filename): The file exists", but I am unable to see the file in the receiving directory using Windows Explorer or DIR in Command Mode. What is happening? And, what can I do to fix it?
The file may be hidden. Try running the following command: Attrib –h filename Make sure to run that from within the target directory.
