SID file lost while connecting laptop to AD Win2000 server

How can I reissue a SID file that is confused when trying to reconnect a laptop to a new AD Win2000 server? The laptop displayed a "not able to connect" error. Also, in "services" on the Win2000 AD Server, a net logon error shows that the laptop's SID file is "LOST" and is asking to "re-establish the trust relationship."
From Active Directory Users and Computers right click on the computer account (it may be in the computer's container, then again it may have been moved) and select Reset account. Then, from the computer itself, you must remove the computer from the domain and then rejoin it. This Microsoft KB article provides more detailed instructions.
